Where are my boutique girls?? I'm definitely that girl. There is something about shopping boutiques compared to big brand stores that makes me feel like I am having an experience instead of just shopping. And if you want great experiences I have found some of the best boutiques for you, right in my backyard of Shelbyville Kentucky. If you haven't heard of Shelbyville then you are missing out. It is a quaint town nestled in between Louisville and Lexington, that has some of the best dining, distilleries, boutiques, history, culture, horses and much more. Find more about Shelbyville (here)
I will be doing three separate blog posts that will feature three different boutiques. First up is the Polka Dotted Pineapple (located at 536 Main St., Shelbyville KY 40065). If you have ever been to Keeneland, Churchill Downs or any horse race in Kentucky, then more than likely you have heard of this little gem. When I talked to owner Dori Lewis (and no we aren't related :) ), She was so proud to tell me "We are known for our custom hats and designer dresses for the horse racing crowd". Even though custom hats and designer dresses are a staple in my book and closet, the Polka Dotted Pineapple has much more. This boutique also specializes in unique designers, name brand and upscale consignment. There is a wide variety to style and there is definitely something for everybody.
While I was there I was looking for the perfect 4th of July outfit and I think I found it. Jumpsuits are my jam this summer, and this red ruffled one I found at the Polka Dotted Pineapple is amazing. And since this boutique is known for its custom hats you know I had to try one on. All in all this outfit is great for a fancy 4th of July shindig and even better for a day at the track.
